"Citizens can leave anything from books, clothes, shoes, toys, etc. that can be recycled or reused," said the GHMC.

In a unique initiative, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has established a "Give and Share" center near Shilparamam in Madhapur.
Claiming that it was an expansion of the Wall of Kindness initiative, the municipal body said: "Citizens can leave anything from books, newspapers, old clothes, shoes, antique furniture, toys, etc. that can be recycled or reused" .
The remaining elements can be collected later by anyone who is in need, from the very center.
The Wall of Kindness initiative worked on the same concept, but it was a unique wall, rather than a center, which resulted in donations being damaged due to the weather.
What is even more attractive in the middle is that it is made from recycled plastic bottles under the 'Recycle India' initiative of 'Bamboo House India', a Hyderabad-based company that builds bamboo houses.
"We started working on it a month ago, and took about 1,500 bottles to make. There are two messages being transmitted here," Prashant Lingam, one of the founders of the company, told The News Minute.
"The first, of course, is giving and sharing, and the other is reusing and recycling," he adds.
Prashant also attributes Harlingen Dasari, the Serlingampally GHMC zonal commissioner, for taking the initiative and actively promoting ecological methods
Prashant now plans to supply five storage containers for the center, where people can deposit the items.
"We are using large 250-liter drums, and we plan to label each one, four drums will be marked for toys, clothes, shoes and books, while one will be for miscellaneous items that can not be quantified," he says.
There is also a perch in the middle, for people planning to donate their old clothes.
In May of this year, the company had built its own "recycled" bus stop, made entirely of plastic bottles, in the Swaroopnagar colony at Uppal.
"After the bus shelter, since the state government was promoting the 'Haritha Haram' tree planting initiative, we also made plastic tree protectors. The GHMC is also considering establishing several pet bottle collection centers throughout The city, More people to recycle. If we collect the bottles, it also greatly reduces our cost of production, "says Prashant.
