Hyderabad RK Puram Lake releases toxic foam

The Rama Krishna Puram (RK Puram) lake in Hyderabad overflowed with toxic moss on Tuesday morning by spreading moss in the surrounding areas. Toxic moss in the lake was reported yesterday when the dam built across the river was bitten as residents of the area. After the Bellandur and Varthur lakes of Bengaluru have gained notoriety to vomit toxic moss, RK Puram Lake also seems to suffocate with pollution. The lake is part of the Alwal watershed, which is attached to the aquifer by which the inhabitants of the area receive water in their homes. Pollution in the lake is mainly caused by the disposal of chemical waste, animal waste, human waste, direct diversion to the lake and so on. In February of this year the NGT issued a notice to the civilian organizations in Bengaluru involved in the maintenance of the heavily polluted Lake Bellandur when a fire broke out after the debris near the lake was burnt. The cause of the fire, as reported, was the high methane content around the lake shore caused by industrial waste dumped into the lake
