The Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad is still collapsing, part of the collapse of the roof of the neighboring building

Continuous rain skin city has left Hyderabad flooded roads, damaged part of also one of its oldest heritage sites, Mecca Masjid.

Large pieces of the ceiling fell on Wednesday evening, from a mosque in Shahe Mausoleum

"The debris actually decreases continuously from two days. Cleaning workers when it's falling so that people can not see the real state, they are royal graves. The rain water is constantly collected at the top of the structure, and it is swayed by it Roof, and leaking inside, "said Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjed Ullah Khan.

Mecca Masjid, a 17th century monument, is one of Hyderabad's oldest structures and is just a few meters from the iconic Charminar of the city.

Even before the rain, the Masjid had numerous structural problems that needed urgent attention, with great tears that developed on the roof of the mausoleum

However, Kadeer Siddiqui, the supervisor of the Mecca mosque, seems to be underestimating the incident, saying to TNM: "It can not be repaired now. The repair of the graves, as part of a larger plan to repair the mosque, included funds worth Rs 8.48 crore for this purpose ".

"The building has been over 400 years old, so some pieces should be dropped, the government has been informed, the tender process has been completed, and the director of the Department of Antiquities and Museums must choose the contractor from.
However, many are unconvinced by the government's claims.

"In the first year after the formation of Telangana, deputy deputy Mohamed Mohamed Mahmoud Ali, along with Sharminar Mulla Sayed Ahmed Pasha Quadri of Emim, held a press conference inside the mosque, made long claims, promised Rs 10 rupees, but later media reports I found that nothing was released, "says Amjad.

Also in May 2016, the Deputy Foreign Minister and other officials inspected the mosque before Ramadan and promised a major renovation effort at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

"This time they promised 10 rupees a second rupees and they said they would punish her through a green channel," said Amjad. "This was the praise of Emim Mullah Akbaruddin Aweys, but the second year passed, and nothing happened.

The work to be dealt with includes restoration of the structure, as well as the installation of CCTV cameras in the mosque. The payment of salaries to staff has also been delayed, with many workers not receiving payments for several months.

"We are only waiting to announce the auction. The authorized amount will be used to install CCTV cameras and pay salaries etc. We are confident that the maintenance work will be well completed before Ramadan," said Sherminar Mulla Sayed Ahmed Pasha Quadri to DS in March of this year.

However, there were no results.

"Again this year, they announced funds, but nothing has come, the mosque is under the control of the Ministry of Minority Welfare directly, but there is no executive agency in the department, to release funds to manage the roads and buildings (R & B) to start work, .

Amjad also claims that Imim wants to punish Kuli Qutb Shah of the Urban Development Authority (Ksudah), which was formed a few years ago, to the development work in the Old Town area.

"However, the strictness does not maintain quality, there are 30% to 40% bribes there even the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GAMC) is not ready to work in Makkah Mosque, so no one knows what really happens," Amjad says.

"Only 15 of the 22 CCTV cameras are working, and the staff have not paid yet. Politicians seem to remember the mosque only during Ramadan," he said.
